Top 20 Home Tours of All Time: #10 An Antique Connecticut Farmhouse Made Modern

by Grace Bonney

We made it to the halfway point! We are officially at the #10 spot on the Design*Sponge Top 20 Home Tours of All Time countdown. And our #10 spot encapsulates so many of the modern minimalism trends that we’ve seen over the past few years. Haldan and Gina renovated their 1780s farmhouse in Connecticut to reveal stunning herringbone wooden floors and exposed brick walls. They added rich paint colors and leather furniture to bring a modern but sophisticated feel to the space and added one of my favorite parts of any home: pets. I hope you’ll enjoy revisiting this beautiful home (and that kitchen!!) from 2015. xo, Grace

  • I just do not understand why people would cover their lovely books in plain white paper.

    • Same! It sounds like a royal pain in the ass, too. I just tried really hard to imagine that library with a shelf of colorful books…aaaah, much better.

    • And I don’t understand why people would colour-code their books. I really like the look of books in neutral cover and in fact, I have been thinking about doing it with mine. I think it works perfectly with the this beautiful house’s interior.
