Top 20 Home Tours of All Time: #16 A 1920s-Era Bungalow

by Grace Bonney

We’ve published thousands of home tours over the past 15 years, and if one style has been predominant over recent years, it’s been the trend toward white walls and a sort of modern minimalism. Magazines like Kinfolk were part of the wave that ushered in this era and while we have seen more homes that embrace color and pattern, this simpler aesthetic has still dominated the design scene. And today’s #16 spot on the Design*Sponge Top 20 Home Tours of All Time is a great example of that clean, pared-down style.

Jeran McConnel and her family worked on renovating their Bakersfield, California home with simplicity and clean lines in mind. They embraced many of the home’s 1920s-era details and kept them intact, but added a modern spin with contemporary textiles and furniture. Enjoy the tour! xo, Grace
