Top 20 Home Tours of All Time: #19 Jodie’s Historic Brooklyn Home

by Grace Bonney

Today we’re continuing our Top 20 Home Tours of All Time with #19: Jodie Patterson’s beautiful Brooklyn home.

I don’t know if I can say enough great things about this home. Jodie’s home in Bedford-Stuyvesant is full of enough stories to last a lifetime. From the way in which they won the bidding war for their home (the family wrote a personal letter to the owner about respecting the home’s legacy in Black history and the importance of another generation of strong Black community members growing up there) to the basement’s former life as a speakeasy (!!), this space is truly special. And the people that live inside are just as special. Jodie is a strong voice for so many and her new book, The Bold World, took my breath away. I hope you’ll enjoy reliving this tour as much as I enjoyed being a part of it. I rarely get to go on shoots like this, so this was a real treat. xo, Grace

*You might also recognize Jodie from the cover of our book, In the Company of Women.
