Sometimes when I walk into someone’s home during the holidays and lay eyes on their version of festive decor, it turns into a face palm moment for me. I then starting thinking, “why didn’t I think of that?” Christmas trimming and decor themes are as plentiful as snowflakes during a blizzard, but I always find myself sticking with red, green and clear lights. I suppose it’s just easy and somewhat comforting for me. However, when I do take in the glory of someone else’s take on the holidays, I feel so giddy and excited.
Perhaps it’s because I distinctly remember marveling at all of the blue lights on a nearby road one year when I was a kid. It was always red and green until that year in 1974 when some clever elf sent out a memo to all of the fashionable folks on the pike that said “We’re going BLUE this year.” No doubt there was a rush on blue lights and silver tinsel that season at our local Sears.
Inspired by the those who slay holiday decorating and make it their own, we’re taking a look at some of our favorite festive pieces from JOANN that all work together to form a cohesive theme that evokes a unique take on the holidays. Get ready to romp around the Christmas tree decked out in anything but red and green.
