Day 2: Pattern Downloads by Marina Dunbar

by Caitlin Kelch

Today’s pattern download from Charleston, SC artist Marina Dunbar reminds me of a futuristic, ethereal take on plaid. This piece actually functions as a color study for Marina, who layers bands of paint in a lattice pattern to reveal how the colors will interact with each other when they overlap. The single layers of color show her the true hue on top of white paper. If you’d like to see Marina at work in her school classroom-turned-art-studio, visit our studio tour of her space here.

You can download today’s pattern here (vertical) and here (horizontal). Please note these patterns are for personal use only!
