Fine Art Focus: Gabriel Orozco

by Grace Bonney

Sculpture and installation artwork has always been an area of fine art that eludes me. No matter how hard I tried in college, nothing I ever created expressed the message or story I was trying to tell. So when I see artists who are so clearly gifted in their ability to evoke strong feelings with their work, I feel a deep sense of awe and appreciation. And one of my all-time favorite sculpture and installation artists working right now is Gabriel Orozco.

Born in Mexico, Gabriel now lives and works in his home country, New York and France. His work has been shown in galleries and museums across the globe, and in 2009, a book of his work was published. What I love most about Gabriel’s work is the sense of movement and fluidity. Even collections of found objects have a rhythm in Gabriel’s compositions. Read on to learn more about his art and see more online. xo, grace
