Halloween is just two days away, and it’s time to get those candy buckets ready for trick-or-treating! With so many of the store-bought buckets looking the same, it’s hard to find an interesting way to carry your candy while also matching your costume. Well, we’ve got you covered with this easy way to customize your boring, old, plastic candy buckets and make them into something unique. Plus, they’re a great activity for the kids because once they’re painted, stickers do the rest of the work!
All of that candy isn’t going to carry itself, so hop on down to the store and get the supplies to make these punny DIY candy buckets! —Sam
-Black vinyl (or letter stickers)
-Paper cutter if you are using a black vinyl sheet
-Spray paint that works on plastic, in various colors
Step 1: Remove the handle from the bucket and set aside. If you want to paint the handle, too, just leave it attached to the bucket.
Step 2: In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the bucket on all sides. Allow to dry completely in between coats. I used two coats of paint on mine.
Step 3: If you previously removed the handle, attach it back onto the bucket once the bucket has dried.
Step 4: If you are using pre-cut letter stickers, you can skip this step. If you are using a vinyl sheet, create a file with the phrases you want to use and cut out those letters with your paper cutter.
Step 5: Place the vinyl stickers on the bucket, centering and aligning the letters as you go. Press down to make sure that all sides of the letters are stuck down.
