Best of the Web + Matte Black Metal Chairs

by Grace Bonney

Maybe it’s the changing seasons, or just having a summer away from the house, but my mind feels ready to ease back into the next stage of working on our house. After months spent covered in paint, drywall dust and mastic, we took a much needed break and just lived in our house and enjoyed having everything be put together enough to work just fine. But now Julia and I are both starting to get the itch to move things around, re-paint and make some bigger decisions about decorating that we didn’t feel up to last winter. One of the things we “inherited” and have yet to deal with is a stack of metal desk chairs from Julia’s mom’s old office. They’ve served as makeshift bedside tables since last winter, but now I think they’re ready to move up to the big leagues and become new chairs for our downstairs (soon to be) dining room. I saw this picture onĀ Nikisha Brunson’s Pineapple Life blog and I think this is just what these chairs need for a modern makeover. All I need is a little time and a few cans of matte black spray paint for metal. Bonus? They will feel perfect for Halloween. Sending you all best wishes for a safe and happy weekend and maybe even a DIY project or two… xo, grace
