3 Great Ways to Spend Some Quality Design Time

by Caitlin Kelch

Most of who love design, also have an affinity towards collections. Whether they’re in a museum or in our own homes, collections tend to make us feel connected, perhaps because we can see the individual parts of a whole so clearly. Design*Sponge favorite, artist Lisa Congdon, dedicated an entire year to documenting her collections daily online. Her blog, A Collection a Day, showed us too many treasures to count and definitely influenced some photography styles out there.

We’ve been adding to our collections on eBay and this week we’re sharing three eBay guides that we hope will nudge you to spend some time pursuing your own love of design and collections.

Our Fall Fashion entertaining how-to guide was so popular, we thought we share another entertaining guide this week that is the exact opposite of the bright madness of Fashion Week. Join us for our Bonsai Tea Party and invite your quiet friends.

We’ve also created a simple DIY that can be used on its own or to add to the table at your Bonsai Tea Party. We’ll show you how to make tasseled placemats to use at your next dinner party or get-together.

Finally, we’ve shared two easy pieces to add iconic style to your home in a guide inspired by our Style Icon series here on the site. There are some affordable options out there from the masters – think Eames and beyond.

Here’s this week’s line-up:

We’d love to see your version of the projects above. Or your favorite eBay scores! Share them with us on our Facebook page, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #ebayscore or @designsponge.

This post was created in collaboration with eBay. All of our How-To Guides and Collections were produced by us here at D*S. Thanks for supporting Design*Sponge sponsors who give us the opportunity to create special content like this.

  • Wow I had no idea that you could do this with ebay!! Collection, how to, etc??! I am an Etsy seller and of course you can make collections there..but the DIY part is amazing! I hope Etsy will get inspired and make itself a more usable platform for customers. I have always thought it should have the ability for the shop keepers to have an Etsy blog, but obviously they do not share this opinion! :(
    Great article!!!
