We got a little teary writing this post. Today we come to you with a farewell love letter and a big thank you. It has been a wild two years! We are honored and so appreciative to have had the opportunity to share our floral projects and inspirations with you. Writing the column gave us a much-needed escape from the day-to-day business of running our floral studio and pushed us to keep being creative. We’ve shared our favorite flowers, celebrated the holidays and showed you some big milestones in our lives, like the making of our shop and Jill’s wedding.


We are grateful to have been connected with so many fantastic people through our little column and will always have a special place in our hearts for Grace, the Design*Sponge family and all of you readers who have supported us during our time here. We have lots of big upcoming plans, including the arrival of baby Choo in January! We are working on a book with our friends from Star Apple Edible and Fine Gardening, lots and lots of weddings and a full and fun holiday schedule. We hope to pop back in here now and again and share what we’re up to, and we’d love for you to stop by and see us online or in person at Prairie Collective. It has been a pleasure. We just returned from our annual Yosemite getaway, and our minds are still frolicking in the sunny meadows and on shadowy forest paths. People often ask us where we get our ideas for different color palettes and texture combinations — here’s one place! We put a collection of flowers together this week inspired by the soft grasses, purplish mountains, wild berries and pods, and feathery friends that caught our eye on the trip. We’re taking a much-needed break at the shop this week before we kick into the next round of weddings, so we finally had a little time to do a fun crafty project! We’ve caught the tie-dyeing bug (we have a party planned with the gals for later this month), and this project is an inexpensive way to add a handmade and colorful look to your summer table. The stars of the show are Wasara biodegradable paper cups in simple but beautiful shapes that look perfect with just a few blooms inside . . . easy! — Studio Choo

With Father’s Day nearing, we wanted to put together a memorable floral gift for our favorite man that wasn’t too “girly.” With a vintage codfish box found on a trip to Vermont as the base, we created a collection box filled with symbolic treasures and our version of a talking bouquet, personalized just for the dad in our life. The past few weeks have been a bit of a blur. Wedding season has started with a bang, and we’ve been occupied with all sorts of fun photo shoots, field trips and shop plans (some changes coming soon at Prairie Collective!). We spend most of our days go, go, going; running a flower business is not as relaxing as you might think! While hurriedly scouring the aisles of our local garden center for interesting herbs for a shoot this week, a lovely little field of blue stopped us in our tracks. Inspired by the pause the blue star creeper gave us, we created this cool, calm meadow to run down our table. — Studio Choo

We’ve made quite a few bouquets in our day. Along the way, we noticed a pattern had developed in all the bouquets that became our favorites. This week, we thought we’d share a little recipe that yields great results for a natural, garden-style bouquet made in hand. The ingredients can vary according to what flowers are available and what the recipient (ahem, perhaps someone with an “M” at the beginning and end of her name and an “O” in the middle?) would be into. Make an effort to collect a few beautiful stems this weekend (or any weekend really) to create a personalized bouquet for a special lady in your life. — Studio Choo
