weekly wrap up + august d*s desktop wallpaper!

i’m so thrilled to end this week with a new d*s desktop wallpaper from portland artist, betsy walton. betsy was kind enough to work on a pretty quick-turnaround for this project and i’m so happy to have to started my week in portland and ended it with an amazing portland artist. betsy has created three sizes of her calendar design for us, each with a calendar and non-calendar option. thank you, betsy!

today is the first day of july (why is the summer flying by so quickly?) and it also marks the 11th month of the d*s desktop wallpaper series that kicked off with deanne cheuk last august. i’m thrilled to have one of my fellow design by the book team members joining us for this month’s calendar: mike perry!. mike is one of the most talented, hard-working, and versatile artists i know and it’s such an honor to have him contribute a colorful design for july’s desktop calendar. i hope you’ll enjoy his design! thanks so much again to mike for sharing this wallpaper with us. click here to check out mike’s work online and here to shop his collection of artwork and books.

yesterday i was flying (or rather, being bumped about next to a kicking toddler) on a puddle jumper plane home from virginia so i wasn’t able to get the new d*s desktop wallpaper up in time. so today i’m happy to be sharing a brand new (free!) downloadable desktop wallpaper from one of my favorite artists (and home owners), christopher bettig of the mountain label. i’ve been following christopher’s work for years now and he only gets better as time goes on. he’s currently in scotland for a solo show at analogue books so if you’re in edinburgh i hope you’ll stop by and say hi! thanks so much to christopher for sharing this wonderful design with us!

i seriously can’t believe that it’s already may (where has the first half of the year gone??) but i’m excited that it means it’s time for a new d*s desktop wallpaper! this month we’re being treated to a beautiful water-themed wallpaper from one of my favorite people around: amy ruppel. amy’s work always makes me smile and this cool, serene underwater wallpaper is perfect for the early days of summer. amy has given us versions of her wallpaper with and without calendars so i hope you’ll be able to choose an option that’s right for your screen. thank you so much to amy for donating her time, and beautiful artwork, this month!

i can’t believe it’s already april, but that means that it’s time for a new d*s desktop wallpaper! this month the lovely karen combs of nama rococo wallpaper is sharing a calendar and non-calendar design with us, as well as some fun downloadable artwork just for fun. i love the rich oranges she used in this month’s design, and hope you’ll enjoy her wallpaper as much as i am.

march d*s desktop wallpaper: wayne pate!

i can’t believe it’s march already (2010 is seriously flying by!) but that means it’s time for a new d*s desktop wallpaper from one of my favorite artists: wayne pate! i’ve been following wayne’s work at good shape design since he launched that adorable bird print in 2007 and have really enjoyed him grow and change as an artist. so i was thrilled when he agreed to be one of our desktop artists! this month wayne has created a custom design for us that comes in three sizes, each with a calendar for march 2010. i hope you’ll enjoy wayne’s design as much as i do (i love those little plaid shapes!) and will check out more of wayne’s work here.
