New Risograph Cards and Prints from Yellow Owl Workshop

by Annie Werbler

New Risograph Cards and Prints from Yellow Owl Workshop, on Design*Sponge

A perennial favorite around these parts, Yellow Owl Workshop has long delighted us with quirky stationery, whimsical rubber stamp sets, and lively paper party kits. Not one to let her customers have all the fun, Christine Schmidt experimented with various printing methods by which to produce the greeting cards and wall prints that comprise her bold new collection. Looking for an unmatched level of bright color saturation worthy of the playful graphics, Christine stumbled upon the Risograph duplicating process, which layers translucent runs of each ink in a given design. The end result has a visual intensity more similar to that of a screenprint than a rapid laser copy. It is this unique combination of innovative craftsmanship paired with warm, personal sentiment (greeting cards with things we might actually say!) that has kept us coming back for more of the good stuff all these years. —Annie

  • Love these cards, but I am genuinely baffled by how much their shipping costs. I went to order a card and the shipping was $5.50. For one card (which cost $4.50). To send it from San Francisco to Berkeley. Whuh? I like the card, but not $10 like it. :\ Bummer.

    • Hi Beth,

      Yellow Owl Workshop here!

Thanks for the feedback. We ship via USPS Priority mail, so $5.50 is the standard flat rate. But we do have many Berkeley & Oakland stockists which carry our Riso cards, such as Collector Art Shop, Atomic Garden or Nathan & Co. Or if you happen to be in SF, you can stop by our studio to pick up your order.

      Hope this helps!
