A Day In The Life of Taylor Kitto

Like several thousand other people, I’m a huge fan of stylist/photographer/shopkeeper Taylor Kitto‘s Instagram feed. I’ve been happily following her feed and enjoying all of the gorgeous photos she posts of her life and work in San Luis Obispo and her travels in a vintage trailer. Each month Taylor hosts a pop-up shop with her business, Wild Poppy, that showcases not just her goods but the work of other local artists. I love celebrating and learning more about anyone that’s working to help promote other people, so I was excited to peek inside her life in California. From the day-to-day shop duties like packing orders (beautifully, I might add) and hunting for new vintage goods to fun runs on the beach with her dog, Taylor has me wanting to open up a DS branch somewhere sunny and warm. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through her lovely day. Thanks, Taylor! xo, grace

Don’t miss Taylor’s stylish camper makeover and home tour on DS, too!

“A typical breakfast for me is a coffee and some sort of baked good. It’s an unhealthy and hard habit to kick, but sometimes I balance it out with a smoothie (ha!). Most mornings, I walk to my favorite cafe called Sally Loo’s. My guy works and everyone there is like family to me, so it’s always a nice start to the day!”

“Today I’m catching up on emails and printing out shipping labels for this week’s orders. Running an online business from a 400-square-foot studio is challenging, but I’ve learned to make it work!”

“One of my favorite parts of the job is wrapping up orders. I am always sure to include a personal note and a vintage photograph, because it makes the shopping experience much more fun and special.”

“After I drop off some packages at the post office, I head on over to my favorite thrift shops to get some more goods for tomorrow’s shop update. It’s always a hit or miss; some days are duds while other days I hit the jackpot. Today’s run was a good one!”

“Luckily, I live a few blocks down from my favorite vintage store, Ruby Rose, so I stop in and have a good chat with the ladies. The shop is always gorgeously styled and I always leave feeling positive and inspired.”

“Date night! We hop on the Vespa and head on over to our favorite dinner spot, Novo. Dining alfresco, we chat over delicious sopas on a nice summer night. Can’t get better than that!”

“In the afternoons, we take the dogs to the beach and let them run around. It’s definitely our favorite part of the day (dogs included!), so we try our best to do it every day.”
