Rouse Phillips

by Grace Bonney

I must have been a textile designer in another life, because there’s something so visceral about my response to fabrics and news of new textile design studios. A part of me leaps with excitement about new fabrics to enjoy and another part of me longs to run away and join them and play with colors and textures all day. But for now I’m focusing on the former feeling and celebrating these gorgeous new textiles and rugs from Rouse Phillips. Founded by Tim Rouse and Anastasia Phillips, Rouse Phillips is based in Sydney and just launched their website and collection of fabrics, pillows and rugs. I love the rich peach and grey color palettes they work with, so their fabrics just jumped straight to the top of my wishlist (the ‘Check Stamp‘ pattern in particular). Their rug line is still being developed and rolled out online, but the Aztec-inspired Kilim they have available right now is a great start. Click here to check out their full collection and shop online- and stay tuned for a porcelain collection from them soon as well. xo, grace

  • Grace, thank you so much for always featuring textile designers. It can be a area of design i feel is taken for granted. The fabric we surround ourselves with, be it clothes or furnishings have this magical power to absorb or express the person more. Also I am so excited to hear about Australian designers. Aussie Aussie Aussie! These textiles by Rouse Phillips have a clear aboriginal sun bleached quality absorbed in them too.
