The heatwave currently sweeping across New York has made it impossible to do anything except for sit in front of the air conditioner and work. And by work I mean try to find ways to get myself into a pool. When I’m trying to avoid too much physical activity, I like to occupy my time with crafts or other small projects that can be done inside and away from the heat. So when I saw this book, How to Tie Knots, at Canoe in Portland I thought it would be perfect for summer crafts. Something about being stuck inside with the AC on blast screams for a project that involves only your two hands and nothing else that could melt or create more heat in the room.

If you want to pair this with some extra ideas, we’ve got a Best Of: Rope DIY Projects roundup here, too. xo, grace
