DIY Presidential Paperweights

by Grace Bonney

Happy President’s Day, everyone! In honor of today’s holiday, I wanted to start the day with a little presidential-inspired DIY. I love how quick and easy it is to make paperweights, so I decided to look through the NYPL digital gallery to see if there were any interesting presidential silhouettes to use. While searching for those, I came across an amazing collection of stamp images featuring many of America’s first presidents. So I simply printed them out, cut them to fit and voila — instant presidential paperweights! To make your own, just follow these simple steps (there’s another example here, too!) and add your own images. I used the following images: Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and James Monroe. xo, grace
