Obsessions: Asia Ragland of Feliks + Adrik

When working with fashion designers for our e-commerce site (with stories!) Of a Kind, my business partner, Claire, and I are always blown away by how freaking creative these creators are, turning a card catalog into supply storage, going nuts with mood boards and stuffing their spaces with soul. For Asia Ragland, the lady at the helm of the texture-driven, enamel-blitzed jewelry line Feliks + Adrik, that means combining her studio and home in one: She lives and works out of a little Venice Beach pad filled with things that scream her. Here, Asia shares some of her recent scores, longtime loves and things still on her wish list. — Erica

Ikea Kivik Loveseat, $429
“I moved into a picturesque little Venice Beach bungalow with a courtyard. The floors are wood but are painted over gray, and I painted the walls white. I just wanted keep up that tropical, beachy feeling and, free of children and pets at this time in my life, I felt it was a good time to give a white couch a whirl. I am a bit obsessive when it comes to stains, so I covered pretty much the entire surface area with sheep rugs and skins and throws.”

Home Depot Illumine Floor Lamp, $183
“I was at Home Depot looking for work benches for assembling jewelry, and I discovered that they had really awesome lamps, too, at great prices — I’ve done my research.”

Votivo Tuscan Olive Candle, $26
“It’s the only scent I’ve purchased since I discovered it. It’s sweet without being floral. I love herbal, earthy scents, like this and the Mrs. Meyer’s Parsley Hand Soap.”

Alexander Wang Astrid Slippers, $450
“Alexander Wang is one of my favorite shoe designers. I’m just a sucker for the more mannish looking shoe, and this one is very sleek and streamlined and comfortable looking. Edgy but not too edgy. I do live in Los Angeles, which is not so much that way.”

Korres Quercetin & Oak Day Cream, $48
“This is a newfound product that I have fallen in love with. It’s just really moisturizing and protective at the same time, without feeling heavy on my skin or too light. It also has all organic ingredients.”

Kiehl’s Crème de Corps, $75
“I have almost everything Kiehl’s, and it’s not a cheap habit at all. But the products are so good, and I love the labeling.”

Wolfdogs
“My whole fascination with fantasy dates back to childhood. Labyrinth was one of my favorite films growing up, and then Lord of the Rings, and now it’s evolved to Game of Thrones. That show has really spawned an obsession with everything medieval, including wolfdogs. They’re just so intriguing and beautiful.”

1986–1987 Bianchi Road Bike
“I started taking spin classes down the street from my house in Venice, but I wanted to get a road bike so I’d be outdoors. I found this awesome Bianchi one. It’s vintage, and I ride around all the time on that now, along with my incredible 1974 Raleigh Superb Cruiser.”

Collection of Mid-Century Charcoal Drawings
“I think I like the contrast of the paper — the color of the paper and the rich black. There’s so much depth to each drawing.”

Oopsmark Bicycle Wine Rack, $30
“I am definitely partial to bringing wine to the beach, bringing wine to the movies, bringing wine to the park — pretty much everywhere, I like to have a bottle of wine with me. That’s not to say that I’m a boozer, but it just really creates a certain experience, I think.”

Whale Bottle Opener, $22
“I was down in San Diego, and my sister was pregnant with her first babe. We were at this coffee shop finding Christmas presents for everyone, and I just fell in love with this novelty bottle opener. I never use it, but it sits on top of my stove. I love it. It’s so quirky and random.”

Elle Decoration UK
“I was introduced to this magazine by a close friend of mine a few years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. It just brings me such joy to simply look at the covers, the layouts, the images — the content is always so inspiring. I don’t buy issues of fashion magazines monthly even though I’m in the industry, but every month I have to have my Elle Decor UK.”

As a former Kiehl’s lover I feel compelled to say that their products contain toxic ingredients. A quick look at the label of their Creme de Corps reveals that it contains propylene glycol and several different parabens. There are much better, less toxic alternatives out there.
