strand design

I sometimes see great ideas in garbage bins, but something about NYC in the summer makes me want to stay away from anything found/salvaged because it feels like it’s covered in a thick layer of hot slime. Blech. Thankfully the team at Strand Design doesn’t have my fear of rummaging through reclaimed materials. They use recycled plastic and reclaimed wood to create these striking Refold pendant lamps. Each lamp uses reclaimed old-growth Douglas fir and veneers made from salvaged floorboards. Folded plastic becomes the internal structure, and the result is a beautiful piece that came primarily from materials that were thrown away. You can read more about the light and the construction process right here on Strand Design’s blog. Thanks, Sharon! xo, grace

Now that is a lampshade that I would rock in my house! Love that it’s upcycled too! Great work!

Clean, simple but yet warm. A design that would work in almost any decorating scheme.
Great work, keep it up.
