weekly wrap up + colorful marbling

Marbling has been on my mind non-stop for a few months now. I want to incorporate neon or metallic marbling into every aspect of my life, from my towels and dishes to my clothing and writing paper. I know I’d look a little insane if that dream actually came true, but it would be fun to try. With that in mind, these new marbled salt + pepper shakers and potpourri holders at Leif Shop might be a better fit. They’ve got a slightly ’80s and mid-century feel, which I don’t normally like, but for some reason I like them in shaker form; they feel like tiny retro sculptures for your table. Leif has them in different colors right here for $43–$46 if you need a little marbling boost in your life.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our summer newspaper today (it will be out in a few weeks!), so I’m off to wrap up my editor’s letter and scan pictures of myself, Amy and Kate from our summer camp years. This year’s paper has a nostalgic theme that’s close to my heart, and I can’t wait to show you the finished product. Until then, have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you on Monday! xo, grace

Below is a summary of this week’s highlights:

If you’re in Brooklyn, the Textile Arts Center is doing a marbling class this weekend with Ilana Kohn. Looks like it could be cool! Scarves etc… http://textileartscenterblog.com/marbling-w-ilana-kohn/

  3. Sam Foster says:

I love Alison Brent’s ceramics. I have some of her marbled furniture knobs.
They look so cool, totally revived my old chest of drawers.

  4. I never considered marbling as being very contemporary. This post just might make me reconsider! The combination of gold and pastels looks really great. Love it!

  5. Some of these look like burning magma rocks. It’s different, but looks very original.

  6. These are really well designed marble pieces. This would really compliment good flooring inside your own kitchen and living room. Love that “splatter like” effects on these pieces.

  7. Wow that would be a cool twist to marble! Making marble modern- Fantastic idea!!

  8. Charlotte V. says:

    These are so pretty!
