spring clean: murchison-hume products

I’m filing this one away as the perfect housewarming gift. I just discovered these products by Murchison-Hume. The company was founded in 2007 in Sydney, so I’m a little late to the game. But better late than never. And since I can never seem to put my cleaning supplies away, I’m loving this pretty packing. The brand was founded by husband-and-wife team Peter and Max Kater. The couple now lives in Los Angeles with their two young sons, Ben and Charlie, who were the inspiration behind the Boy’s Bathroom Cleaner. All the products are plant-based, and there are a few scent options as well as fragrance-free versions. The names are so cute. In addition to Boy’s Bathroom Cleaner, there’s Counter Intelligence and Spit and Polish. Has anyone tried them out? — Amy Azzarito

  1. Adriane says:

I love this line! I’m always looking for cute cleaning products (because clearly that’s the most important part) and these are lovely.

  2. whislerpotpie says:

Love the packaging and clever names…hoping there is a giveaway soon!

  3. I Love!! The packaging is beautiful. What a wonderful way to add some luxury to your home.

  4. Becca says:

No, but I’m going to…I’ll give you the dirt (I couldn’t resist) on how it works! Thanks!

  5. Sarah says:

I’ve used the Boys Bathroom Cleaner and it has a great smell to it! Anthropologie used to sell this line and I snapped some up when it went on sale. If you’ve got a stiff or abrasive brush it works well to dissolve soap scum in the bath tub!

I couldn’t agree more that the whole line together makes for the perfect housewarming gift!

  6. MidnightBlackbird says:

Sadness…I have tried these products and they just don’t work well. The dish liquid never got the dishes clean AND it was thirty dollars. The bottle is really cute I saved it and filled it with Gain dish liquid, which smells really good and get the dishes clean.

  7. Mark says:

They don’t ship to the US from their website.

  8. marlene says:

It reminded me that I still had a wooden Champagne box standing that I could use to put in my house cleaning proucts and have them put away neatly. This gave it a new and
    usefull life!

  9. karley says:

I only use Murchison Hume at home – I bought the whole kit and i love it!! I live in Australia and can buy the big refill bottles which actually are pretty inexpensive. After I had my bub I didn’t want any chemicals around so these products have been great.

  10. Vanessa says:

I live in Sydney so it’s easier enough for me to source. I use their hand wash which smells great. What I like most about the range are the refill bottles, saving you money in the long run while being a earth friendly.

  11. jen says:

I love the packaging and the scents. Not the greatest of cleaners for a family of messy kids – but it looks pretty and I love the names! Bought mine from peters of kensington in sydney. I use the floor cleaner as I love natural products and the Boys bathroom – purely for the scent – I do a normal clean first though!! :)

  12. Fox and Beau says:

AMAZING product! Yay for Australian made!

  13. Dana says:

I can’t live without Boys Bathroom Cleaner for the boys in my life! Great product, great smell!

  14. MaxK says:

Wow, thanks Guys! We’re a small, family run company so this kind of exposure is HUGE for us! Peter and I have just relocated to LA to launch Murchison-Hume here in the USA. Much better pricing now that we make it locally and our USA Website is launching any minute. BUT…if you want some now, just email us: jennyw@murchison-hume.com and we’ll hook you up!

Ps. And Amy, we’d be delighted to offer a Free Giveaway.

  15. Kimber says:

I bought this whole line when Anthropologie carried it a couple years ago – love that it is chemical free but most of all the scents are WONDERFUL. The cleaners aren’t heavy-duty (obviously, because there are no harsh chemicals) but they are great for everyday light cleaning. The countertop cleanser was probably my favorite I have ever tried!

  16. Jodie says:

Hi. I use a couple of these products and I love them. The packaging is lovely and they smell devine. The counter intelligence surface spray is a great all purpose cleaner.

  17. Jacqui says:

I have used pretty much all of this line over the years, bought from my favourite store Herbaltonic in Denmark Western Australia. I honestly don’t think they are that effective as a cleaning agent, but as a mild disinfectant yes. I use this after my Enjo to get that beautiful clean smell, plus you can leave the pretty bottles out on display!

  18. I just bought the whole range (in Fig), so can’t wait to use it!

  19. alena says:

I stumbled upon these products by accident, and love them! I’ve used the floor splash and furniture and upholstery cleaner. (Love the fig smell!!) Just ordered the 6 pack set. Can’t wait for the stuff to get here. The kids always comment on how awesome it smells in the house when I clean with these products.

  20. Jenny says:

I wasn’t really impressed with them for cleaning. The smell is nice though.
