ceramic woven trays

One of the first things I covered on D*S was a Williamsburg design show where ceramic “disposables” were just starting to appear. It seemed like everyone was casting throwaway objects (takeout containers, coffee cups, etc.) in porcelain and selling them in stores. While I’ve mostly grown tired of the look since 2004, every now and then I find something in that style that I like. These ceramic “woven” trays at Haus Interior are beautiful and would be great for an entryway (keys, mail, etc.) or bedside to collect jewelry and small accessories. Haus carries them in two sizes for $68 and $80 right here and here. These would make for fun fresh fruit displays in the summer, too. xo, grace

They do look quite charming and I’m tempted to try my hand at making some for myself using air dry clay.

It’s a nice idea, might be tricky to clean though.
