brazilian mats

As much as I love saturated colors, sometimes it’s nice to have something neutral underfoot. These small straw mats from Brazil are made from all-natural vegetable dyes and would be perfect as an entry, kitchen or porch mat. Each one is only $22 and is available at Joinery in Brooklyn. They don’t have online ordering set up, so you can call them (347-889-6164) to order or visit in person at 263 South 1st Street. Click here for their blog. xo, grace

these are pretty little things.. seem tough enough to take some British weather use as well. We’ve always used Sedge Rush Grass for our mats, but there are also some great things possible with Water Hyacinth.

Can I ask… it seems that whenever I check DS these days, it’s quite a lot heavier than usual on feautring products. Is this a temporary thing or are you moving permanently in this direction?

nope, same as always. i always do 2-3 products a day. i actually used to post 4-5 products a day back when i started so it’s been a steady decrease over the years. sometimes when we have a project or afternoon post fall through i’ll do an extra product post to fill in, but typically it’s 2-3 a day, max. i try to make sure 60% of our posts are original content, not products (i like a mix of both).
