Now that we’re having biz ladies lunches in our office, extra seating is always on my mind. Side tables and bench storage regularly serve double duty as seating, but it would be nice to have some cute low-level seating for larger gatherings around the sofa. This beautiful handmade stool from Portugal would be a great option. Made from steel and vegetable-tanned leather, the Anve Banquinho stool at Alder & Co will age naturally until it turns a rich honey color. If you need a little extra seating for guests, click here to check out the stool in more detail and place an order ($185 each). xo, grace

Very nice portable / sturdy as elegant stool.
Yes, extra seating is always a problem! This is so chic and small, and bet it’s quite light as well!
Not only would those stools be an amazing replacement for the black plastic folding chairs we’ve been trotting out when the need arises, but that rug caught my attention before anything else! Then I noticed the boots…so basically this is my very own “living in” post. :) Love it all!
So happy to see a product from my home country! We have amazing and high quality furniture in Portugal and I wish we exported more of it

If that girls bum can’t fit fully on the stool, mine sure as hell couldn’t. While it is beautiful, I think I would stick to a portable stool that is a little more full figure friendly:)
so much leather. while leather is so pretty (and yes, this is a design blog, i get it), it would be nice to see more animal friendly options.
Cute, but it looks extremely uncomfortable. I’d rather sit on the floor.
I had one like this when I was at the University but it wasn’t so fancy!! (I’m from Portugal, as the bank). They are great to carry around!
By the way, “banquinho” means “small stool” in Portuguese.
I had one of these when I was living in China — You can get them on any street corner for about $1 — although not as fancy. They were great except for the one time I had a 12 hour train ride, with no seat. I brought my little fold up stool and sat on it in the aisle. worst train ride of my life.
Love it. For a cheaper and slightly less glamorous option, you could get a vintage Army/camping version at a surplus store.
Great Stool! Where is the rug from in the picture?
That stool is the pocket chair, with a new leather jacket, minus the As Seen on TV Sticker.
I found one designed just like this but with a woven seat in my mil’s garage. I take it with me now on little outings with my landscape photographer husband. It’s a prefect little seat to watch an amazing sunrise while he shoots away.
Couldn’t imagine forking over close to $200 for this version. But it sure looks much more swanky than my garage find.
yes, where is the rug from? it’s perfect!
