grounded: flooring from domestic construction

by Grace Bonney

When it comes to rugs and flooring, I almost always prefer bare wood floors. If that’s not an option, I tend to gravitate to thick rugs, but those are just an invitation for my cats to go claw-crazy. So lately I’ve shied away from floor coverings at all. But these pretty, new¬†mats from Domestic Construction are a nice alternative. If you’re looking for something that’s design forward but can easily be washed and dried (think kids, pets, etc.), this may be exactly what you need. The “Grounded” series consists of mats that have been digitally dyed with original designs by the girls at Domestic Construction. They work for indoor and outdoor settings and come with a skid-resistant rubber backing that’s completely machine washable and dryable. You can choose from two sizes, with prices ranging from $98 to $280. I like the geometric style above, but you can check out the full range¬†here and shop online. xo, grace
