2011 gift guide: for DIY lovers

DIY lovers are some of my favorite people to shop for, and it’s not just because they sometimes give me the things they make :) It’s because most of the avid DIYers I know are always looking to learn a new skill, try a new craft or experiment with a new tool, and this makes them remarkably easy to shop for. In my research for this gift guide, I found many amazing art supplies, tools, books and kits that fall well within a reasonable budget. I hope you find something here for all the DIYers, makers, artists and curious creatives on your list. And remember — if you’re the DIY lover, you can always buy the kit or tool and make the gift yourself! Enjoy :) — Kate

  11. Crafter’s delight!! I have the Yellow Owl book (ordered before it was even released…) they do great things – interested in the Sun Print Kit (a process which aforementioned book also goes into in some detail) but number one for me in this collection has to be the leather case full of writing tools – zipper and elastic closures… I feel my inner 9 year old swoon at the sight of it! Great round up!

  12. Angela says:

What a fantastic gift guide! I’m delighted that my DIY sashiko kit was included, but even more excited about all of these other wonderful gift ideas. The hot pot BBQ looks pretty awesome, and I might have to order a few Owl Workshop stamp kits and DIY books for myself this year. Thanks!

  13. I love all the foodie gifts! I think gifts like that are great- they give you a fun project to do after (it’s the geek in me!).

I will definitely be needing the sun print kit, and the mushroom garden (and the Weck Jars?). And I’ve been doing a lot recently with Washi tape so if I’d known that there was a Liberty of London fabric tape I’d have been all over that. Great post!
