These days, I’m borderline obsessed with finding ways to bring the outside in. Six-foot blooming branches in a vase? Sure thing. Terrariums in every room of the house? Yup. Living room lamp that happens to have moss growing inside? Check. So when I saw these cute twigs turned into magnets (called “Trooks“), I spotted yet another way to slowly turn my apartment into an actual tree house. I’ve been collecting twig-hooks ever since I discovered Live Wire Farm, but these tiny versions from Geoffrey Fisher are a great way to bring a little bit of nature to an unexpected place. Each one has magnets on the back and works perfectly to hold your keys or anything else you might use on a regular basis. You can order a set right here on Geoffrey’s site, or if you’re feeling crafty, make something similar with Kate’s project right here. Thanks to Robin at Urban Gardens for the tip! xo, grace

Those are super-cool. I’d love them completely if I knew they were taken from dead trees rather than cut off living ones though … do you know? Anyway, very, very cool idea and I may go out in the yard and find some. I make magnets out of very small ceramic tiles and wood pieces from craft stores. Had not thought of trooks.
Thanks, great idea! You just cant go wrong with a trook :)
Fun!
So cute! I want one for our little “landing strip” right when you come into our apartment.
They look great.
There’s a woodworker in Vancouver, Canada who makes really nice ones with multiple hooks (as well as cool bike racks) http://www.etsy.com/shop/cantileverandpress
Neva, the Trooks are made from fallen trees. The tag on the products specifies the species of tree and even where the wood was found! See more about the Trooks and designer Geoff Fisher here: http://ow.ly/6UiNQ
Nice find! Paxton Gate is the sole U.S. stockist for Geoff Fisher’s Trook line of hooks and tree magnets, and ships out of California. His work can be found online at: http://www.paxtongate.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=trook
