michele quan bells

by Grace Bonney

As nice as the idea of wind chimes sounds, I don’t normally buy or use them at home, mainly because I think the bell would slowly drive me nuts if I had to hear it all day. But I recently walked by Love, Adorned and heard these bells in person and had to momentarily reconsider my ban on noise-making design. These sweet ceramic jingle bells from Michele Quan come in two-toned glazes and are hung from a simple hemp rope that is treated for indoor or outdoor use. Each bell hangs roughly 16″ long and would be pretty for an outdoor chime or a slightly less noisy indoor grouping. I’d love to see a group of the green chimes used in a bathroom — they’d be perfect to occasionally clink together while you relax in the tub.
