d*s book tour: seattle event details!

by Grace Bonney

Beautiful mountains, amazing architecture, delicious coffee — what’s not to love about Seattle? I can’t wait to hop on a plane to Seattle next month for our next book tour event! We’re doing a crafting event as well as a book signing/celebration (both to benefit a local arts charity), so I hope you’ll join us for the fun! Details are below. xo, grace

Event: Craft/Book Signing/Celebration at Anthropologie
Date: Thursday, September 29th, 2011
Time: 5–8pm (5–6pm craft workshop/6:30–8:00pm signing + celebration)
Location: Anthropologie (1509 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA)

Details: We will be teaching all craft-event participants how to make their own custom wooden wax seal! Craft guests will watch a demo, make their own wax seal and leave with the seal they made, along with sealing wax and stationery to test on. Afterward, we’ll get together for the larger celebration of the book launch, where you can buy copies of the book and have yours signed! Drinks and treats will be served. Proceeds from this event will benefit the local arts charity Art Corps.

We will also have a custom backdrop designed by Matthew Parker Events against which you can take photos (courtesy of Tomika Davis) with your friends and fellow guests!

RSVP: The crafting event is limited to 33 people, so please RSVP HERE soon ($10 per person for the craft event). The main event will fill up quickly, so please RSVP HERE for that soon, as well.

  • will the book be available for purchase at the event (and if so, how much will it be)?

  • Wowza. I logged on from an airplane at 3:07 and the crafting event was already sold out! Glad I can at least come to the signing :)

  • Hi Grace,
Will this project be available in the book? I’m going to the workshop in NYC (woohoo!) but I’d really like to learn how to make a wax seal as well!

  • wonderful! not enough design events make it up to our corner of the world- although that is improving :) can’t wait!

  • I’m so sad! I’ve been waiting for the Seattle announcement all weekend, but I was travelling for work today and ended up on the waitlist :( Was even going to organize a design blogger meet up around it. Next time, I guess.

the chicago date will be up after the holiday. because things have been booking up so quick i’ll post it on twitter/fb and the site the day before it goes up so people know when to visit the site to rsvp :)

  • As much as I have loved reading this blog, I’m a bit disappointed that it has become a commercial site.

    • Valerie

DesignSponge is no more commercial than it was 7 years ago when we started. What specifically are you referencing? The craft fees we are charging here go to charity, not DS.

  • Hope you do a tutorial on the blog for the wax seal and in the mean time I will aquire your book! I love how you all keep such a great watch on the the blog and pop in and out to add to the blog as needed! I guess as a relativly new looker and learner, this is another new reason why I am sooo glad I found your blog! Happy Travels!

  • Grace- thanks for the kind response. I’m excited for you guys that its so popular. I did see the announcement on Friday, but I thought I would have time to get back to my computer before it filled. An exciting problem for you all to have :)

  • Hi d*s, congratulations on the book and the tour. I’m in Italy and usually quickly click on your site a couple of times a day for a fix of great ideas and inspirational images – I particularly love the “Before & Afters” – thank you! I hope the tour and book promos move over and make space for that again.

  • Wow! I am really getting sick of all this self promotion! You are awesome (and other fawning comments)!!

  • Waitlisted (with fingers) crossed in Seattle. ;) An Anthro + DS event? Perfection. Congrats on the book! I’m snapping it up regardless if I can make the event or not.

    • dc

yep, the dates are listed on the calendar on the book page. we’ll be in charleston, savannah, athens, atlanta, asheville, raleigh and birmingham (as well as texas- which i always think of as it’s own separate region)

  • Hi Grace! I have been eagerly awaiting the post about the San Francisco book tour RSVP. I know you mentioned that they would be posted on the site about a month in advance, and I just want to make sure that I haven’t missed the RSVP for the SF book tour event. Thank you!

  • My husband, son and I had so much fun tonight, can’t wait to see the pictures of us! It was a pleasure meeting you Grace. Thanks for the book and the tour. Hope you get some much needed and much deserved rest.
