I’ve been trying to wean myself off of stripes for a while now, but it’s been a pretty futile effort. When I saw these soft striped throws at Alder & Co. and noticed that they come in orange (my favorite color for just about everything), I immediately started planning for how I’d fit one in my suitcase on the way home from Portland. Whether you make room in your suitcase for one or have it shipped, click here to check out these beautiful blankets ($220 each). xo, grace

Beautiful throws!
Is it a problem that I want all of them? I didn’t need to know that these existed!!
These are nice….and remind me of huck towel…a great spongy cloth great for wiping up spills. I use it in the washroom (it’s just like the stuff you see in the dispenser in old restrooms). It’s relatively cheap and can be dressed up with Huck weaving, a type of cross-stitch embroidery popular in the 1930s and 1940s. You get get huck toweling at Vogue Fabrics, Evanston, IL.
I’m not even 20, have never owned my own house–or apartment, for that matter–and am drooling over these.
Looks like a great beach chair blanket!
eep! stripes and orange will always have my heart. great find :)
Love these.
P.S. Grace, I can’t read any copy in Safari, Firefox or Chrome. I’m sure you’re on it. I’m thinking some sort of additional background color isn’t showing up? I think the new design is sophisticated. Different, yes, but I am sure it will improve over time with updated ad sizing, fixing bugs, etc.
The copy is the big issue right now. Regular copy shows up as a dark to medium tone red/pink that blends with the medium tone gray, and link copy shows up in a lighter color red/pink that is readable. Thanks, will never stop reading, but your dudes have to resolve this!
Mobile version too.
Love these towels but wanted to add that I read the site in chrome and its been fine for me – not sure if that helps identify the issue.
Wean off stripes? Never! I just think stripes, not to the exclusion of anything else, are always in fashion. :) I absolutely love this blanket.
Aaaaaaaah, linen is my kryptonite! Grace, do you know whether these are an actual heavier, blanket-type weave, or thinner, like a linen sheet?
Thanks for the post Grace! These are some of our favorites as well – perfect for a summer picnic, as a beach blanket, or thrown on the table for a summer dinner.
Beautiful faded stripes! Like any chic classic, they never go out of style.
Those are gorgeous. Linen would be great for summertime naps…not too heavy!
I’ve been lovin’ stripes as of yet, but I really like the unconventional colour combo.
I AGREE WITH ALL OF YOU. ALL THE PRODUCTS AT ALTER&CO ARE REALLY PERFECT BUT THEY ARE ALSO TOO EXPENSIVE.
I share your love for anything orange (married a guy who loves the color too, bonus!) and my best friend actually brought me back a linen blanket almost identical to that one in the picture from Ethiopia! It’s gorgeous!
LOVE Alder & Co – they have the most wonderful things…
