I’ve been totally smitten with Proud Mary‘s textile collections since they first launched back in 2008. Harper and Molly work with artisans in Guatemala (arranged by Nest, which ensures fair wages and working conditions) to create beautiful pillows, bags and home decor in a wide range of colors and fabrics. Their latest collection includes several striped pillows that are perfect for summer- the green one in particular has hopped straight to the top of my wishlist. And those multi-colored tassel and pom pom details? I love them beyond words. You can check out and shop their latest collection right here online. Thanks to Harper for the tip! xo, grace

Great colors, great patterns. I was glad to get a peek at this today!
!!! the tassels and pompoms. freaking.
These are gorgeous, but…a pillow for $100. Come on! That’s kind of ridiculous.
those pom-poms!
they are so cute! Love those tassle and pom pomdetails
Talia- if you factor in the cost of the fabric and fair labor wages it’s actually not. People always forget to factor a livable wage into the cost of an object. Let’s say the fabric costs $20 per pillow, plus 2 hours of labor at $15 an hour plus shipping from guatemala… That’s at least $60 per pillow without any profit.

Grace, thanks for the response to Talia’s comment. Talia, I would like to add that part of our business model is to provide a consistent income for the artisans with which we work. This is best achieved when placing higher volume orders which mostly come from wholesale accounts. In order to be able to sell to retail stores our pricing structure has to be set up to accommodate (at least) a 50% discount for wholesalers. More sales=more work for our artisans=more money to support their families…and the positive cycle continues!
Love!
