BEA 2011: design*sponge at home

I just wanted to send a quick thank you to everyone who came to say hello at yesterday’s Book Expo America at the Javits Center. This was a show full of firsts: my first-ever book, first time selling it to book buyers and the first time seeing my own face loom behind me in large scale (oh, to be that tall in real life). It was exciting and nerve-wracking and wonderful all at the same time. But to see friendly faces in person from the D*S audience meant the world to me. Thank you so much to everyone for saying hi — I can’t wait to share the official book preview and book trailer in a few weeks! Until then, here are some peeks from yesterday’s book show and the fun little D*S measuring tapes we gave away at the booth. I’ll be sharing more details from the book next month, but until then, you can pre-order the book here, here, here and here if you’re interested (it’s out on September 13th). And of course, a huge thank you to Artisan Books for supporting D*S from day one and letting me make the book I’ve always dreamed of making. xo, grace

*The cover will look different at certain sellers for a bit. The actual cover has a gorgeous gold-foil printed illustration that we’re photographing soon. It will be up on the sites asap; until then, it’s a digital rendering.

Is it too early to start a Christmas wish list? Design Sponge at Home is going on mine.

Laurel

Congrats! I can’t wait for the book to come out as well as the book tour :-D

Oh Grace, a huge congratulations to you! What a dream, and how thrilling! Design*Sponge is a huge inspiration to me (in fact I blogged about it recently!) and I am so happy to see it thrive. Wishing you all the best, can’t wait to see the official book! :)

Congratulations!! couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person!

Eva

I was there yesterday and picked up a copy of the gorgeous BLAD with the gold foil. Will you please tell us what font was used for the main title, names and locations throughout?

Karyn

Congratulations! That’s so exciting! What a great BEA visit!

Ms.RzBd

Congrats and totally deserved. Looking forward to picking up a copy. Seems like you had a great time!
*seeing shots of BEA makes me miss going to book conferences. Fun, but totally exhausting.

Ashley

Saw your blads and thought they looked fantastic! Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the real thing. it looked gorgeous.

Alexis

Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment. I can’t wait to see the foil-stamped “real” cover. I love that the take-away/free-gift is a measuring tape—so smart! Something that actually relates to your book subject, rather than another ball-point pen or stack of post-its.

Jane

Congratulations, Grace. I can hardly wait to get my hands on your book!

Grace, I must confess, I ordered this book on Amazon back in March (when I was purchasing Decorate and Undecorate) -your book (unbeknownst to me back then) was available for pre-order. You had alluded to a possible book back then (I kept thinking/hoping a Biz Ladies book), but when I saw it on Amazon it said it would be available in Sept!

Congratulations and continued success as your turn the page on this fabulous new venture. You have done such an amazing job with design*sponge and no doubt will reap just rewards with DS at Home. So happy for you! j

Oh how exciting!! I just put it in my Amazon cart. Book Expo must be quite a thrill. I have a book there too – it’s like releasing your kids out into the BIG world. ;-D

Heather

I’m surprised – no one else has asked about getting their hands on that measuring tape! I always keep a small measuring tape in my purse, but this pink one with the cloth (?) tape is way better than the metal one with metal tape I carry around! Are you coming to DC or Baltimore any time soon with your book and that tape?!

grace

hi heather

we’ll be in DC for the book tour and if we have any leftovers i’ll bring them :)
