I’m flying home from Minnesota today and am sad to leave all the friendly (‘Minnesota nice‘ is no joke) people I’ve gotten to meet. We’ll be coming back to Minneapolis for the D*S Book Tour, but until then, I’m excited to have gotten a little taste of the city and the incredibly nice people who live here. One of the things that stuck with me after seeing license plates touting the state’s number of lakes (over 10,000) and reading several menus is a serious love of fish. While I’m sure a plate of local Walleye is a great option, I’m sticking to this beautiful Almedahls fish fabric that’s now available by the yard at Huset. With summer around the corner I love throwing in some pieces that remind me of the ocean, and this yardage might just do the trick. Until summer actually hits, I’m bundling up my coat and heading to the airport to fly back to JFK. I’ll see you all on Monday- I hope you all have a a wonderful weekend and Earth Day xo, grace
[Omar and Jen from These are The Things had a pretty tough job reading all the hilarious travel stories in the Europa map contest and choosing just one winner. They read every comment and picked the one that made them laugh the hardest:

I have many funny (to me, at least) travel stories, but here’s one that is short enough for a blog comment. Picture, if you will, one of those free-standing self-cleaning toilets on a street in Germany. My ‘other brother’ wondered how the self cleaning worked, so he slipped in through the door as my brother was coming out. Now imagine banging, clanking, and screaming from inside the toilet, as my brother frantically inserted deutschmarks trying to get the toilet to open up again. (Which, of course, it wouldn’t, because it was in cleaning mode!) It turns out that the entire floor of the toilet dropped down and got sprayed with soapy water. My ‘other brother’ survived by bracing his arms and legs on the walls of the unit. He probably needed a shower that day anyway.]
