Good morning and Happy Friday! Grace is feeling a little under-the-weather this morning, so while she rests up so that we can drive down to Philly tomorrow for Brooklyn Day at Terrain (yup, because there’s not enough Brooklyn in Brooklyn!), I thought I’d share some photos of our Wednesday evening. It was certainly not a normal Wednesday night; Grace and I changed out of our work-at-home attire into fancy clothes and headed up to Long Island City in Queens for a dinner party held by Sierra and Juliet of Poppies & Posies. (See the Poppies & Posies sneak peek here.) The event was at The Foundry — a 19th-century building where fine varnishes were manufactured before it housed The Albra Metal Foundry. Working in the wedding industry, Sierra and Juliet had been inspired by Michael Stuart NY’s food and presentation, particularly their use of local and organic products. They called in lots of favors and all the folks who usually help them create a fantastic wedding collaborated on crafting a dinner party to usher in spring. There were so many amazing details — and the flower arrangements (which included some of Grace’s favorites: dogwood, hellebore and tree peonies) were held in a mix of vintage containers. The place cards were rubber stamps (best favor ever!) created by Paperfinger. And the food that inspired the party? I have just three words for you: truffle grilled cheese. Poppies & Posies does a lot of weddings at The Foundry, and one of the motivations for the event was to showcase just what could be done with the space. We were totally wowed by the chandeliers hanging over the dinner table and every corner of the space was filled with candles. My favorite detail was the ribbons hanging over the archway and the huge leaves on the wall behind the bar. Paperfinger had created place-card rubber stamps for each guest. Midway through the dinner, we played a little musical chairs. Everyone was asked to look at the little card underneath the stamp, which had a different name on it, and switch it up. It was the perfect way to keep conversation flowing and meet new people.
The giant leaves behind the bartender were real and made such a stunning statement.

Every guest received a hand-lettered name stamp to take home — such a great idea.
Tu-Lu’s provided delicious gluten-free desserts served on a sweet painted rolling cart.
We loved the mix of vintage plates used under each course.
The serving trays felt like a mix of floral display and food. This moss-covered tray was such a beautiful way to serve tiny scallops on miniature forks. Grace loved the standing dogwoods in the tray, too.
Tiny bites of duck tostaditas were served on a giant slab of pink salt.
The infamous (and delicious) truffle grilled cheese sandwiches.
