the smell of suntan lotion

Yesterday, it felt like NYC’s weather never pushed past frigid and hovered somewhere around “long-underwear weather” for most of the day. So when I saw these new deck chairs from Gallant & Jones, I could only think of one thing: summer. Sunny, hot, stick-to-the-seat-of-your-car summer. Most people hate really hot summers, but I relish them. I can’t wait for the days when a sundress and flip flops are the only sensible options and purchases like striped deck chairs are on my to-do list. It’s no surprise that these stripes are my favorite, but Gallant & Jones has a wide range of options (these styles will be available mid-month) that work as well on the beach as they do on the back patio. If you’re starting a summer inspiration folder like I am, you can click here to check out more images, get additional info and shop from Gallant & Jones’ full collection. Here’s to warmer days, flip-flop tans and the smell of suntan lotion. xo, grace

G&J is releasing custom-made trays to fit the top of the chair stools, too!

Grace, I totally feel you on that. Being from Atlanta I can’t take another NYC winter!!! It’s been almost ten years bearing through these winters and I never get used to it. Give me some sticky sweaty weather!

Anne-Claire Rohé

I agree! summers (steamy hot ones) are my favorite in NYC, i’ll choose them twice over frigid winter.
Looking forward to them!
Where did you move Grace? just catching few posts stating you moved… and wondering if you stayed in Brooklyn.

Love the chairs! There is hope that summer will come! I love hot, hot, hot summers too. As my mom and I have always said, I’d rather chew the air than be chewed by it! Give me high 90′s, hazy, hot, and humid any time over low 20′s and icy and bleak.

Stephanie Press

It’s already getting hot here! If you love unbearably hot summers, we’ve got that for you. A couple of chairs like this would really brighten up the front yard, we just need a grill and we’re set!

Suntan lotion is my FAVORITE smell. Finally, someone else who loves hot summers! That is exactly why I moved to Austin…it’s been in the 70s here alllllllll week. Bliss. I can’t wait until the only decent running clothes are – ahem – the indecent ones.

Susan

Yay for hot-weather love! I really enjoy summer and get so sick of the complainers and their “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” refrain. Nothing makes me happier than humid nights!
