I couldn’t think of a better way to start the day than with a post about giving back to others. Jaime at The Monkey Flower Group in Napa launched a great new project called Flowers to Care that brings flower arrangements to members of the community who don’t have the resources to acquire them. We’ve been posting all sorts of ideas to help you celebrate Valentine’s Day with your loved ones, but if you have the ability to help others, it’s always wonderful to share with people outside of your family and friends.

Jaime’s program lets you buy a small arrangement ($20 each, made using local, fresh flowers) that will be delivered to the Cope Family Center to be enjoyed by those in need. I know this is highly regional, but whether you’re in this area or not, it’s so important to give back whenever possible. Jaime inspired me to take part in this idea, and I hope it will inspire some of you to try the same idea in your town. Flowers really do help brighten someone’s day, so if you’re picking up some blooms for yourself, consider dropping them (or some extras) off at your local shelter or another organization that can distribute them to a needy family or display them for everyone at the home to enjoy. Click here to check out Jaime’s program and donate an arrangement (you receive an email with the flowers you bought) and here to find a charity close to you that might be in need of some Valentine’s donations.

What a beautiful idea! People who are struggling need the basics, but also beauty and kindness– these revive the spirit and make a big difference. I love it!
What a lovely idea even the small things make a big impact on each others lives.
What a great idea! I wish this was available all over the world and I really have no idea why it’s not. Thank you for filling us in!
This is lovely in every way. I’m a firm believer that savoring beauty in nature or elsewhere is a small way to enjoy life a little more every day. How much more wonderful to share it with someone who may need a little pick-me-up!
How wonderful! You’ll have to keep us posted if anyone does something similar in NY!
I’m inspired! I think I’ll try to incorporate a similar program in my flower business here in Philadelphia. Will have to wait until spring (May) though when my flower field is in full bloom again. Stay tuned! Thank you, Jamie, for the wonderful idea!
Thank you for posting this! I LOVE flowers and yes they really do brighten one’s day—I am inspired!
I’ve known Jaime since high school, and remember her helping this same charity then. Such a beautiful, generous, wonderful person…. Jaime, if you’re reading this, we need to get coffee again!
