D*S editor Amy Azzarito is one of the healthiest people I know. When she’s eating salads and green juices, I’m stealing extra Hershey’s Kisses and Kit Kat bars. So I was excited to see one of her salad recipes over on the D*S blog at Currency today. Amy is talking about a great way to save money (taking your lunch to work), and as part of that post, she’s sharing a delicious Kale Salad recipe that’s healthy and easy on your wallet — perfect for starting the new year off right. She’s also rounded up some fun grown-up lunch-box options for your daily commute. Click here to check it out in full. xo, grace

Ooh yum! We have an avocado tree, I will definitely make this!
I like these innovative ways to carry your lunch to work! I pack my husband’s lunch every day so I think I might have to try these out.
Do the writers of the articles have personal experience with the products the recommend? I clicked on the linked article and looked at some of the products. Two on Amazon had no reviews, which is kind of unusual.

typically we do. though i wouldn’t use amazon as the only point of reference- a lot of time indie products don’t have a lot of feedback on amazon because they don’t have the promotional budgets to get the word out, so their products sit there until someone else mentions them (also, most indie designs tend to be purchased through smaller shops, online boutiques, etc). we wouldn’t recommend something we don’t think is worth checking out- and if we ever found out something wasn’t good we’ll be sure to update the post or remove that item, etc.

Not only is packing your lunch healthier (and cost efficient) reusable containers and utensils like these cut down on waste that ends up in the landfill. Thanks Grace!
great options for packing a lunch! these are always hard to bring to work/school, and these are some great solutions!
that salad sounds delish! I have all the ingredients at home and plan to make it tonight… thanks for the ideas!
Do yourself a favor, don’t eat out of plastic especially if you plan on heating things in the microwave. The leaching of toxic plasticizers like BPA isn’t worth it.

I bought #6 about a year ago and have seen it everywhere lately – blogs, magazines, etc. I love it, the best little compartment lunch box ever.
Ooh, that sounds so yummy! And thanks for a vegan friendly recipe :)
funny… they’ve been selling that soup cup (red, with lid) at my Shoprite for the past 3 yrs. Think it costs $3.99 there, $1.99 on sale…. not the $9.99 they list! FWIW, it’s a darn good soup cup…. : )
so, I made this salad last night and enjoyed the HECK out of it today for lunch! This Amy Azzarito is on to something… I’d love to see more of her favorite healthy recipes on here in the future!
looks delicious and i will surely make my own later…
Thanks, Alex! You made me laugh this morning! :) Glad you enjoyed it! Sometimes I mix a little apple cider vinegar and miso with the lemon juice to make the dressing extra yummy! :) xo
I eat this salad almost every day. I use organic cold pressed olive oil instead of the avacado and massage it into the leaves. I sprinkle flax, sometimes ground nuts, sometimes pear or apple, sometimes all the above. The kale, lemon juice, oil combo is divine. I eat mine right away, but it certainly stands up to a day in the fridge. Eating RAW is awesome! I love the idea of adding miso and some ALIVE vinegar too. Thanks so much.
I made this for dinner tonight, using almonds in place of pistachios. I must say, I need to eat like this more often.
Not sure how I feel about having to go on your blog to get this recipe ;)
