Morning guys! Before the holidays, AC and I decided it was finally time to move to a new apartment. We’ve called our little railroad home for the past four years, but now that we’re both in this space all day, we decided it was time to find something that would give us more “real” working space. So we’ve started the apartment hunt (just in time for our landlords to announce they’re hiking our rent) and the obligatory “what can we get rid of before we move?” conversation.
That talk led me to finally realize that I’m ready to let all (ok, most) of my mid-century furniture and decor go. I feel like I need a fresh start and letting go of some of these pieces is the first step. So I’ve listed a fresh batch of lighting, furniture and accessories that are available for sale (and local pickup) on Craigslist. The individual listings are below if you’re interested — hopefully our favorite older pieces can find a new home! xo, grace

i really want that fiberglass chair and i’m complete sad i’m no where near you to get it :-(
My ikea table has the same scratch – thanks for the ideas
for fixing it!
I sooo want your couch. Perfect for my “too large to just
be a bedroom but too small to be two rooms” bedroom. But like
someone who also posted….I am too far away!
Hi I want the sofa!! I tried to contact you through
craigslist but can’t get on …maybe because I am in work , could
you email me?
I looked at your sneak-peek from 2007, and in the
reflection of your bathroom mirror there is what looks like a
chandelier hanging in the hallway? Where did you get it? I would
love something like that.
It’s a shame that you’re in Brooklyn–that fiberglass chair
would have been a nice addition to my living room.
hi sylvia!
it’s a neon chandelier from lite brite neon in brooklyn, ny :)

Good luck finding that perfect new place!
So if you are getting rid of Mid Century design elements I am curious; what is next for you?

i normally try to tailor it to the space so i’ll decide when we move in, but right now i’d like to go for something a bit more industrial and masculine. my husband has been a saint to put up with so many polka-dotted fabrics and crazy patterns everywhere. so i figured it’s time to invest in fewer, but nicer, pieces that are a bit more classic and suit both our styles. we’ll see ;) i’ll be sure to post pics and update the design process on d*s as we go along ;)

Thanks Grace!
Wish I was in the area. The fiberglass Eames replica would be perfect for my living room! Good luck with the move.
thanks guys!
so we ended up selling the clock and chair today, but the sofa, lamp and candelabra are still in play :)

Where do you think you’ll be moving to? Nothing like a rent hike to get one motivated ;-)

not sure yet, but we’re staying in brooklyn :)

this is so funny. last night i decided to clean my house and a desk ended up on my back porch just waiting for a summer tag sale. i need to let go of one more piece of furniture so that i can actually move around my house, but i am having a great deal of difficulty deciding what piece it will be. maybe i should pretend that i am moving. good luck.
