Today I’m thrilled to welcome not one, but three bloggers to the What’s In Your Pocket series! I’ve long been a fan of Grain Edit (they have one of my favorite blog layouts around) and was thrilled that their entire team was up for giving us a peek into their respective pockets and pocketbooks. Dave Cuzner, Grace Danico and Ethan Davis are joining us today and were kind enough to meet up this weekend to take a fun group shot for the post. So, without further ado, let’s see what the Grain Edit team carries around in their pockets! xo, grace

Name: Dave Cuzner
Location: Oakland, CA
Blog: Grain Edit
What are your purse/pocket essentials?: I always carry my iphone and a notepad. I use my iphone to take photos of our latest food conquests, while the notepad is reserved for capturing ideas and random doodles.
What is your favorite piece of pocket sized inspiration and why? I love vintage matchbox labels. I’ve been collecting these miniature pieces of art for several years now, and they never cease to amaze me. The illustrations are often quite good and they are fairly easy to find.

Name: Grace Danico
Location: San Francisco, CA
Blog: Grain Edit
What are your purse/pocket essentials?: Besides the usual keys, wallet, and phone, I always need to have a small notebook and pencil(s) with me. They’re an extension of myself as I obsessively draw and write little lists/notes. Plus, pencils are perfect for making doodles on paper placemats while waiting for grub at my favorite diner.
What is your favorite piece of pocket sized inspiration and why?: My friend was given a set of teeny tiny handmade books (about the size of a quarter) filled with beautiful ink drawings by his friend. It’s pretty inspiring to think of art fitting in such a miniature format. I’m going to try my hand at making one myself.

Name: Ethan Davis
Location: The beautiful and sunny bay area!
Blog: Grain Edit
What are your purse/pocket essentials?: A book, an iPod, dollar bills, and a business card.
What is your favorite piece of pocket sized inspiration and why?: Matchbox labels! While I don’t carry them in my pocket, I do appreciate their bold style. And despite their compact, portable size they don’t skimp on clarity. They’re a good reminder that design doesn’t have to be flashy or complex to communicate to a vast audience.

This makes me feel normal. I carry a lot of the same things of Dave and Ethan. Sorry, no lipstick or matchbooks for me.
