the exquisite book party + exhibition friday night!

by Grace Bonney

I’ve been excited about this event for months now and it’s finally here! Tomorrow night in DUMBO Brooklyn, the team from ALSO design (Julia Rothman, Jenny Volvolski, and Matt Lemoth) will gather with over 20 artists from The Exquisite Book to have a party, exhibit artwork from the book and do a book signing!

I’ve worked with ALSO on just about every web and print project I’ve done for the past three years (they’re designing the new D*S website and the D*S book!) and I’m always so impressed with their dedication to creativity and bringing together some of the best artists around. If you’re a fan of independent artwork, this is seriously a must-see event. All 100 of the artists’ pages will be on view, hung in the connected order in which they appear in the book. The pieces have been created as Plywerk bamboo mounted prints and will be for sale at the exhibition ($60 each). So if you flipped through the book and thought at any point, “I wish I could buy that as a print”, now you can!

My favorite part of the event is that just about all of my favorite artists will be there and available to sign books. Check out the list: Carson Ellis, Mike Perry, Deanne Cheuk, Jen Corace, Jennifer Daniel, Nigel Peake, Joe Hart, Caitlin Keegan, Mike Lowery, Katy Horan, Zach Kanin, Chris Kyung, Aaron Meshon, Leif Parsons, Arthur Jones, Laura Ljungkvist, Jonathon Rosen, Ryan Jacob Smith, Claudia Pearson, Ben Finer, Liz Zanis, Maxwell Loren Hoyoke-Hirsch and the authors Julia Rothman, Jenny Volvovski and Matt Lamothe.

I’ll be heading over with several Design*Sponge editors (and AC). If you’re in town please stop by and check it out! The number of talented artists congregating in one space is pretty mind boggling, so I hope you all can make it. Details are below:
