I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to start my sixth year at Design*Sponge (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) than with one of the very first people I wrote about in fall 2004, Lorena Barrezueta. I’ve been a fan of Lorena’s since day one and had a blast getting to know her when we filmed Design by the Book together in 2008. Lorena is always producing tableware that makes me want to throw a party and I’m especially fond of her newest collection, “Burst.” Burst is a five-piece set (dinner and salad plate, cup and saucer) in a striking black, gold or platinum design. I’m always partial to the metallic prints, so those gold plates are calling my name. They’d be a fantastic way to spruce up your holiday table without the traditional red/green and orange/brown combinations. Click here to check out Lorena’s set online ($120–$150 for the set) and here to email Lorena and place an order. xo, grace
PS — Many thanks to HGTV.ca for writing about their visit to my house! We filmed a video interview (more segments to come soon), talked about design trends and did a little shopping around Park Slope.

I LOVE the metallics here. the pattern is modern but its still sweet.
Wow. I would think these are vintage, but I know better!
These are awesome… I am always hesitant to buy patterned dinnerware because I’m afraid I will tire of it. BUT, I can’t imagine getting tired of these!! Gorgeous!
I am in awe. Absolutely love them. Want to purchase them all today, wrap them up in cotton wool and hug them!
Congrats to Lorena on this set. Looks amazing. Good to see new work from her.
Thank you for the kind words everyone! Special thanks to you, Alex! Hope all is well with you!!
