new design magazine: anthology!

Today I am so honored to announce the debut of a brand new design magazine: Anthology! As much as my heart and soul lives online, I have been dying to see someone embrace print again and Anh-Minh Le and Meg Mateo Ilasco have done just that. Anthology is a new quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home décor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. Meg and Anh-Minh explained that they envision the magazine as, “a collection of stories shared with readers.” I’m so thrilled to see design content in print again and am honored to be among some really amazing artists, shop owners, and home owners in the debut issue. Meg and Anh-Minh have shared a few sneak peeks from the magazine below, as well as their adorable new stop-motion launch video shop by Thayer Allyson Gowdy! Susie Ghahremani’s music provides the perfect accompaniment to the video’s theme of “print is not dead.” You can get a preview of the magazine via the issue previewer below or click here to check out Anthology‘s new site! A big congrats and digital high five to Meg and Anh-Minh for their new magazine and for bringing something beautiful, fun, and young back to print! xo, grace

What a great gift they’ve given us!!!

olivia

awesome! and most lovely of all is the Krisatomic illustration – her stuff is just about my favourite stuff to look at.

Lisa

Fantastic!! I agree, there is something so nice about a real print magazine, with folded bages, bookmarks, clippings… can’t wait to see this one!

Amy

I dearly love my blogs – Design*Sponge being my fave – but long live print! Thank you ladies for creating something new. The sneak peek has me desperate for more. Best of luck and much success to you both!

jessie

I am beyond excited about this. Just ordered my subscription and I’ll be watching the mail in anticipation. Yay!

Lauryn

I just ordered a copy! I can’t wait. It’s not that I don’t love e-mags (better than nothing!) but I love love love printed magazines. I can just toss them into my bag to read anywhere and so I enjoy them so much more (especially since my laptop is so clunky, hard to tote around).

Exciting- I love opening my mailbox and finding a mag to curl up with!

I am an artist and that painting above the bed is really beautiful. Modern but with an organic quality that I love.

Stephanie@cre8tive

I too love print. I have recently subscribed to a magazine for online viewing and I hate it. Not the magazine, but reading it on line! Thought I would give it a try, you know get with the digital times, but it just is not the same as touching and staring at an actual page in print. Gonna go get my subscription now.

I miss great magazines! And Rizzoli left SF a while ago… I just popped over to the Anthology site and bought my yearly subscription. Thanks Grace for writing a beautiful post about the magazine. I can’t wait for it to arrive.

lauren

you had me at “new design mag,” but this one features AB CHAO (in the photo beneath the map of louisiana)? now i’m twelve kinds of excited. (in a healthy, non-stalkery way, of course.)

Wahoo! There has been a drought in the design magazine world for far too long… So excited for this new mag! Just ordered myself a subscription and can’t wait to receive the first issue!

sgist

I was heartbroken when Domino folded, then Cottage Living…the list was long that year of all my favorite home design magazines folding. Hopefully this will assuage my boredom with the mags on the market at this time! Have placed my subscription and eagerly await the first issue!!!

Charlotte

It looks very interesting. I wish I had a chance of buying a copy. But I’ll be sure to look for it next time I’m in the UK.

Rex

Finally! A glimpse of hope after the end of Domino. Give shelter magazines another chance. Also, print rules!

Katie Bee

Anthology looks incredible! I was about to say how excited I was to see a chance at a magazine since the days of domino but it looks like Rex beat me to it…I’ll have to order a copy and add their site to my blog feed.

RAKEL

where are those adorable vintage looking thermos’ from? Any advice on where to find them?

Anh-Minh

Thanks for all of the encouragement and support!

AGV – The painting is by Meredith Pardue.

Jalex Studios

Phew!! Great to see another design mag. With those that have fallen during this recession, I was beginning to worry that they would become extinct. Good luck Anthology and I hope you are very successful.

Decor Arts Now

LOVE the idea of a new print magazine. While I know the folks at Lonny are super creative, it is so hard for my older eyes to read online!
Where will we be able to buy it? Lynn

Shelly

Yea! Yea! Yea! As a printer (in my 8-5 life), I am very excited about this. Hoping there will be a grassroots movement to embrace the PRINTED work again…so I can keep doing what I love. Congrats to Meg and Anh-Minh

Anna

Fantastic! Would love to subscribe, but I’m in Berlin, Germany! Is there any possibility to get your magazine here?

Meg Mateo Ilasco

Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm!!

Taylor – the thermoses are vintage (the owner’s collection: some bought, some inherited)

As for buying the magazine, you can go to http://www.anthologymag.com. (For US, UK, and Canada residents).

As for Germany and elsewhere, we’re working on finding independent booksellers and shops to carry the mag!

Lillian

Where is that quilt on the bed (the one with the zig zag pattern) from? I feel like I have seen it somewhere before and I just love it!
