i’m so in love with this collaborative project between children’s librarian and artist mia cabana and her boyfriend, photographer oliver scott snure. mia and oliver collaborated on a recent show at sticks and bricks in northampton, mass that focused on creating art pieces by cutting silhouettes and illustrations to pop out of book pages and interact with three-dimensional objects like dollhouse furniture or flea market treasures. oliver took lovely pictures of the tiny installations which are also on sale for $24. click here for more information on the show and to check out more images. thanks, mia!

I always cringe when people cut or tear up old books. . . I feel like they should be saved and cared for–so that they are in pristine condition when someone has such a great idea as this. These are beautiful!
Thank you so much for posting this! We are thrilled!
I love these! And I love it when partners collaborate to create art. Mia and Oliver are an inspiring pair.
I imagine these are almost more successful as photographs than as sculptures – they’re really beautifully made, but the dramatic lighting and moment-in-time composition really add to the surreal awesomeness. Is it possible to buy prints? The birdcage would look great in my dining area.
Wow! Absolutely beautiful work.
So charming! I love them. This is the kind of creative mind that just leaves me in awe. Encore!
So wonderful! There are plenty of books out there that would appreciate being seen and loved again instead of left to collect dust on a forgotten shelf.
oh man, these are sooo amazing. im loving it!
So beautiful, the paper images are great but the lighting and the books coming to life gives it the feeling of a very sophisticated puppet show.
I stared at the girl-in-the-mirror picture for about twenty minutes. To echo another, having a framed print of that photograph would be a dream.
Hello everyone, because of the wonderful responses here, we have been prompted to open an etsy shop. It is not %100 up and running yet, but will be by the weekend. Thank you for all the kind words! http://www.etsy.com/shop/2spoons
Oh yay! So the etsy shop will have the photograph prints? I adore them, and think they will be great Xmas gifts for a couple of academics I know and love.
Yes, the prints on etsy will be available in 8 x 10 at this point, but if you have another size request feel free to contact us!
Love this! Reminds me of the paper cutouts and imaginary worlds I used to make as a child.
These are the most amazing sculptures! Clever, clever, clever!
Wow, this is awesome! I wish I had such a load of creativity.

Amazing work! Thank you for showing these to us.
Very cool. Reminds me of the pulp fiction cut outs by Thomas Allen: http://www.josephbellows.com/exhibitions/2006_3_thomas_allen/
these are clever, unique and quite extraordinary.
I like paper sculpture so much!Wish I could make that.
I’d love to purchase some of the prints. These mini sculptures are amazing and I’ve several friends who would love to have these images in their homes. :D

These are all totally lovely & magical!
Particular favorites: the first one of the birds in the cage and the second to last one of a woman in a vanity.
