This is an older post, but I just wanted to add a thank-you note from the future for the nice tutorial. It was a great first project for this utter beginner. I skipped some things (piping, ribbon embellishments) but added a decorative stitch on the hem so I could play around with my new machine a little. Much fun, and now the sewing machine can stay dust-free under its brand new cozy! Thanks again.
