super nova inflatable, huggable light

by Grace Bonney

when it comes to furniture, i’ve always been someone who sacrificed comfort for style. i know, it’s not the best quality, but i’ve always preferred my shoes to be comfortable and my home decor to be pretty (but possibly more form than function). so when i found myself enjoying these inflatable lights from david winston at cleanroom design lab i smiled because i finally liked something that wasn’t too old, fragile, or precarious to touch (bonus: they remind me of one of my favorite family guy fake-ads)

the super nova light produces an ambient glow that cleanroom claims is strong enough to light up an entire room. i’m a fan of anything that brings light lower down to unexpected spaces, so this definitely gets my two thumbs up. the body of the lamp is inflatable, soft, and fitted with a hi-efficiency shockproof light and control box. according to the site the light itself produces “virtually zero heat” so it would be safe to lay next to, or on top of, various items around the room. it would be so fun to light a dinner party with these- i love the idea of these ambient lights that you can actually walk over and hug. click here for more info (click on “furniture”) and to contact cleanroom about purchasing.
