i really love weddings- mainly because they almost always inspire some sort of entertaining ideas for regular parties. i love picking through martha stewart weddings every month and picking up little ideas for gift wrapping, setting a dinner table, or a casual brunch with friends. i know some people bristle at the idea of weddings, but for me, they’re always just a jumping off point for general entertaining. so with that in mind, i wanted to share this beautiful photoshoot produced by sierra & juliet of poppies and posies and jackie of merci new york. sierra, juliet, and jackie organized a handful of local designers, stylists, bakers, and other talented people to collaborate on a photoshoot (shot by whitney & dustin of oh, darling!) focused on providing inspirational ideas for brides and grooms to be.

whether you’re planning a wedding or just a dinner-party for friends, i love the idea of using terrariums as centerpieces- and using tiny vintage glass bottles to create even tinier terrariums people could take home as gifts. i don’t think i’ve ever met a birdhouse i didn’t like, so i love the way they’ve used one as a favor center, though for a party i think i’d use one as a centerpiece and fill it with candles. there are all sorts of fun entertaining ideas in here (as well as more wedding-focused ideas like stationery and flowers) so be sure to click “read more” below to view all 10 images and get links to all of the talented artists involved in the shoot. thanks, whitney!

Where is that chap’s jacket from?
NOthing like a beautiful wedding post to jump start and inspire a great Monday morning! I especially love the cupcake liners and the birdcage with the quail eggs strewn around. Delightful little details!
Oh wow so nice. Love all the moss!
I love the natural feel of the wedding favors, and decor! Sometimes wedding stuff is too over the top! These touches scream for a spring or summer wedding! Thanks for th post.
*sigh* wedding porn on monday morn. does it get better?
my husband and i are hopelessly addicted to this site!!!!!
Wedding shoots have become the new design porn. And I love it – it’s like they get more and more creative and fantastical. Even the most traditional weddings are using non traditional photography, props and locations. I could look at this stuff all day. The first picture with the birdcage is wonderful. Thanks grace!
*swoon* I want my house to feel like this
this is my wedding!!! i’m making terreriums out of random found bottles for centerpeices/favors, and there will be moss, tree bark, and birds nests and feathers!
I’m getting married in July and actually just bought an antique bird cage on a wrought iron stand . I’m going to snip out some of its bars and make it our card holder. :)
love the birdcage! Where can I buy that?!
I love the mossy greens with the itty bitty details. Absolutely adorable.
this is my dream wedding in a nutshell…just with more yellow:)
love love love these ideas!!!
Those cupcake sleeves/liners are gorgeous! Anybody know of a source for them or something similar?
Ooh could the designers let me know where to find the different nests (the one for the tablescape and one for the dessert bar)? I’m organizing a baby shower with a bird/nest theme. Thanks in advance!
That was so inspiring! Perfect for springtime. I would have added a little old world calligraphy — of course….
beautiful. love the inspired use of the west elm bird cage!
this is just awesome. the ring pillow is too lovely!
How appropriate to use a cage as a wedding decoration!
oh wow, this is just lovely… subtly romantic. I adore the color combination!
Fran–I love the cupcake sleeves, also. Here’s what I found: http://tinyurl.com/yytcnol
though they are expensive at more than $1 each. (This site has lots of other cupcake sleeves. BTW I googled “cupcake sleeves.”) Anyone know of a cheaper source?
MS Apple: the birds nest on the dessert / gift table is from Jamali Gardens in NYC and the eggs on it were from a craft store, I just glued them on. The birdcage was actually purchased bare at West Elm and dressed up w/ Spanish moss and gifts wrapped in Japanese paper from Kate’s Paperie. Hope that helps! – Jackie
this is the cheepest place i have found for bird nests. http://factorydirectcraft.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bird+nest

SIMPLY GORGEOUS!
Absolutely breathtaking! Poppies and Posies, you are my hero.
This is one of the most amazingly goregous dessert displays I have every seen!
The stationery is really lovely! The whole shoot is such an interesting take on the “rustic” theme!
That jacket on the groom is AWESOME! Please please, where is it from?
can i please ask where the cupcake wrappers are from? i’d love to get a hold of some myself! :D
I love this, posting it to my blog, thanks!
