when it comes to colorful furniture, my answer is almost always “yes, please!”. so i was happy to see this bright yellow sofa makeover from shana and john at junk2funk. they rescued this vintage sofa with an AMAZING frame and gave it a face lift with new fabric and a bright yellow finish. great work, you two!
*stay tuned for studio choo’s “we like it wild” post tomorrow!

today’s final before & after is all about making the most of a small space. anastasia of faiella design helped a san francisco client create a custom kitchen island/counter/storage space to utilize as much of their limited kitchen space as possible. as a small kitchen renter myself, i know how important (and practical) it is to have furniture serve as many purposes as possible, so this piece is just perfect. anastasia worked with designer jason lees to create this piece, creating more storage, counter space, a kitchen table, and versatility for the kitchen. the island has a butcher block top (so it can be used as a food prep surface) and has locking castor wheels so the piece can be turned and the side flipped up to create more space when guests are over for dinner. talk about double duty- well done! thanks to anastasia for sharing.

I’M LOOOOOOVING THE YELLOW SOFA RE-DO! OMG!! I HAD A HEADBOARD LIKE THAT ONCE AND I WISH I WOULD’VE USED THAT YELLOW… NICE!
How come I never find awesome stuff like that couch? It looks GREAT with its makeover but was still decently cute before!
I’m in love with that sofa! Absolutely gorgeous!
I’ve fallen in love with the fabric on the sofa, any idea where it is from? Thanks!
that couch transformation is the coolest thing ever!
Gorgeous yellow couch… but that kitchen is sooooo not small.
The kitchen makeover is fantastic, but I would love to know more about the dining table and chairs in the “before” pic…
That sofa is amazing! I love the bright colors.
I’ve been seeing that fabric (the AFTER sofa one) every where. I have a nursing cover with that fabric. I want that couch to nurse on!
I cant get enough of these :)
This is not overdecoration. It looks great.
COUCH!!!! WANT COUCH!!
@Jennifer – ikea’s FUSION dining set looks similar to the one in the pic.
My what great color…as an antique dealer i am not always in favor of painting an original piece as the sofa is an early piece…but NICE Job!
@Jennifer
I’m pretty positive it’s the IKEA Fusion (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50169119)
they seem to have it in different colours depending on the country though, at least on the websites, the US has a black version
I fall in love with it everytime I go to Ikea, however the chairs seemed a little uncomfortable… :(
ps. LOVE the couch!!!!! :)
Wonderful makeover, the sofa was a surprise, wow amazing I love it

Gorgeous yellow sofa! So nicely done.
I’m loving me a yellow sofa!
Fabulous frame!
Man that sofa redo is killer, love the yellow!
Oh! That sofa made my heart skip a beat… Divine!
The couch is wonderful, but so is the painting on the wall in the kitchen. I’d love to know where Anastasia found it.
Wow, that sofa is outrageous! They had great bones to work with and really did an amazing job transforming the piece into a stunner.
love the kitchen thing – but wish the picture could have shown the same point of view as the before pic, to see how the piece relates in the room better. Really love the casters to move it around.
I just found a solid antique daybed frame. I would love to do this. My frame has no base to it. I’d love to send some a photo and get a little how-to advice. How can I make it into a couch. The is no base. I could cut plywood out and them make cushions I guess…but I’m not sure how to even do that. I’m a newby here in sustainable furniture design.
is that pieced together, that island, or purchased like that? i like it either way.

it was designed by a local furniture designer, so it was made that way :)

oh wow oh wow oh wow! I would kill for that sofa. I mean I wouldn’t kill someone I really liked, but I might consider breaking a bone or too. lol! just kidding of course! LOVE it darling, really really love it
Both makeovers are great! Where did the brushed stainless bar stool come from? They are in the designers rooms from this week as well.
The sofa is great; what is the source for the fabric?
Morgan– The stools look like Tabouret stools; they come in bar height or counter height. They’re available at overstock.com right now for a great price.
Anyone know where those roman shades come from?
Thank sooo much for all the support!! We are very passionate at what we do and with just starting out, its great to hear this amazing feedback!
Im glad you love the couch, alot of heart went into funky it up!!

Thanks to share this news with us, These can easily come as already painted items, or as unfinished products you are able to refurbish yourself. It is also a good manner in which to create a white stool for an locale if you cannot find one to suit the precise sort of your home.
