before & after: lori’s cabinet + cherry’s couch

today’s first before & after comes from lori dunbar at fin + roe and marzipan inc. lori found an old pair of shutters at a garage sale for next to nothing and, after picking up a few hinges and steel knobs, transformed them into a hanging jewelry case. i love the final look and the fact that lori didn’t pass up the shutters- she saw potential and brought them back to life. thanks for sharing, lori (click here to read lori’s how-to!)

Love the jewelry cabinet! What a great way to display and hide your jewelry at the same time!

I’ve been looking for a larger jewelry box, but this is a much cuter way to organize everything. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting this! I have a wicker hand me down couch (complete with horrid mismatched island print cushions) that I’ve ben wanting to repaint but just wasn’t sure how. You’ve also solved my cushion issue. Though I think that I’ll just make covers. Thanks again!

I imagine that jewelry box idea could also be a cute way to store office and art supplies, tools, kitchen gadgets, etc. Love it!

Love the jewelry case… I need something beautiful & organized like that for my accessories!!

Melissa

I love that jewelry cabinet idea! Probably one of the best jewelry storage methods I’ve seen. But if it were me I think I would have kept the fabric, it think that part was really pretty.

Danielle

i have had that ikea fabric sitting in my closet for months trying to decide whether or not to cover an ottoman with it. great to see it on the couch. maybe now i will go ahead and do it already!

Cherry great job. The little side table by the couch is gorgeous, too:)

Great idea for a jewelry cabinet as well as an added piece of artwork wherever you put it:)

I want the jewelry case. How creative! I wish I can just buy one of those.

Oh my gosh! That doesn’t even look like the same couch! I love the fabric she used.

Cherry, I think what really makes the couch redo is that you kept the back cushions shorter — brilliant!

Susan

Thank God for uninspired people who put great stuff on the curb! Even more for those who turn it into something stunning. Fabulous job on the sofa! I have ten brothers and sisters and we are all seasoned trash-pickers. There’s nothing more fun than finding the hidden beauty in castoffs!
