i’m feeling a little under the weather today so i’m going to kick off the before & afters a little early so i can try to work in a little half-day off to rest up. these first two projects come from beth at nest interior design. i love the way she updated this sofa and added the cording detail- it gives the finished result such a crisp, clean feel. not to mention it makes you completely forget about that cheetah print nightmare the couch was before. click here to check out more of beth’s design work online. oh my gosh, both of these pieces turned out AMAZING! i absolutely adore them. the patterns are awesome and the welt trim on the sofa is such a great touch!!
These transformations are amazing!
I certainly wish I had the reupholstering talent that Beth does. Great job and wonderful attention to detail!
those are wonderful Beth! I would like to know where you bought the material for the chair, its great! i have been searching for material for dining chairs and a sofa. thanks
WOW! I really cannot believe that is the same couch!
Those transformations are awesome!
i love those glass pears on the table?! where can i get them?
Love Beth’s work…LOVE that chair!! Janell
Would you mind sharing where you got the fabric for the sofa? Thanks!
I love these! I really love the white cording on the sofa with gray and the geometric pattern on the chair.
Thank you! Thank you!!
The fabric is Robert Allen – Broken Circles. It’s a trade only fabric, so if anyone wants it and is not a designer, just shoot me a email and I can order it for you. beth@nestdallasdesign.com
Oh my goodness! They look so great! So lovely and modern! I love the fabric that was chosen…something I could see in my home. :)
I love the couch and the PAINTING! Please tell me your cousin’s girlfriend from a remote corner of Scandinavia didn’t paint it or something. *Sorry sarcasm is my native language* Where can I find it? Thanks!
the before and afters always make it look so easy, the results so professional. One of these days I need to try it myself.
Ooooh – I agree with Katie – I love that painting! That might be a weekend DIY, where I will attempt to recreate it and fail miserably.
Anyone notice that the cord of the lamp in the slipper chair shot is photoshopped out, but not the cord’s shadow? :)
I am loving that sofa!!!
It amazes me that you can just make a slipcover! There’s a weekend course I want to take because my couch is in serious trouble…
The sofa redo is one of the best before and afters I have ever seen!
WOW that sofa transformation is unreal! LOVE IT
WOW! Fantastic job on the couch. Love the colour + the piping. I might have done one large seat cushion though. I wonder what the owners think of this idea.
You have a great collection. All are looking stylist. i like it.
Gorgeous transformations on both accounts! Particularly love the sofa and the white cording makes it.
No! Take it back! I loved the leopard couch. Throw a few ikat pillows on and
your sweet.
i LOVE the white trim on the sofa. amazing.
Beth, did you replace the cushions on the sofa and/or chair? They look so crisp now, and that makes all the difference (and makes the job look so professional).
I’d love to have my couch and loveseat reupholstered. But I don’t know who to go to, and certainly don’t know the appropriate price ranges. Any recommendations for a neophyte when it comes to (re)decorating? Thank you!
Where are the geometric pillows from? I love them!
Hello there! thank you for all the positive feedback…
Here are some answers to some of the questions that were asked:
The pillows are custom and made from a vintage pucci fabric that was designed for a Braniff Airlines flight attendant uniform.
As far as where you can get your pieces re-worked, it all just depends on your area! shoot me an email if you want help doing some research in your area.
Thanks again!! And thank you to you, Grace, for the post!
Hi, Beth I love the sofa !! I have been trying to come with ideas to redo my couch and that looked great . Also on a very bizarre note that piece of art was mine , so I jumped when I scrolled down to the AFTER image . I did that piece for the Beaux Arts Ball several years back . Wow what a small world . Your room looks great!
Truly one of the best transformations I’ve seen on D’s! Love the painting above the couch too! Who did it?
I never new you could do that with a sofa that ugly!!! it’s like the prince and the frog story lol
by the way – a great choice of fabrics – truly amazing :)
Who did the painting above the couch? Love it!
Simply amazing, Beth! What a transformation. It looks truly professional. Love the mix and matching of patterns and colors. We’re all about ‘breaking the rules’ and mixing designs in unexpected ways.
Wow!! What a transformation, the sofa looks like it came directly from a fabulous Italian design house, you would hardly believe it was the same piece, I love it. Well done, beautiful job. xx
Love! Really lovely.
Hello! I am the owner of this condo that Beth so wonderfully decorated. It was such a fun project to work on with her. I wanted to answer some questions… the green glass pears on the coffee table are from a store called 4510 (located here in Dallas on McKinney Ave.). The painting is one of very favorites. It was done by an artist named Sunny Sliger. The piece was purchased nearly 5 years ago at the Beaux Arts Ball in Dallas.
Great makeovers!
However I am now sitting on chairs recently re -upholstered in a red variant of the animal print-fabric that used to cover your chair and I still absolutely love them! Although for the chair in the picture, the new swirly upholstery is absolutely much prettier, the former fabric is a quite rare one by Brunschwig and Fils I believe, based on a 19th century mexican pattern. I hope you kept it to make pillows or something!
