Oh yes. The haphazard flamingos are fantastic.
I am obsessed with these books. I think they are so beautiful – thanks for letting us know!!!
I absolutely adore these books! I want them all!
happy <3 day grace :)
love the book covers… just preordered alice and the odyssey; thanks for the tip!
Oh I am so happy that these are finally available through Amazon! Just a couple of days ago I was seriously contemplating buying them through Waterstone’s, which would have ridiculous shipping costs over to the US. Thank you so much for posting this! Hopefully the others will be released soon as well!
I love, love, love these additions, and had to limit myself to one (Jane Eyre,) only because I had most of the other titles on my book shelf. But am now thrilled to have more options. I was waiting. The Odyssey will be the first purchase. Then maybe Alice, can you ever have enough copies of Alice?
Attention Penguin: I need a copy of Northhanger Abbey and could upgrade from my Dover $1 copy of Persuasion. ) Will try to wait to buy them at one of the independents here in L.A. area. Angelenos Portrait of a Bookstore (Studio City) and Skylight in Los Feliz both carry.
FINALLY! I love my Penguin edition of Jane Eyre and methinks I need to add a few more books from the collection to keep her company.
I am hoping that people eventually buy for me every single one for my library. I collect Jane Eyres, tiny and large, illustrated and worthless.
The stamped linen books have been avilable in our Borders here for a while. I’ve been resisting buying them just because I already own copies of all of those book, but I can’t help but think that they’d be a beautiful investment, for potential children…
I have them all, and I wouldn’t have known to expand my collection had it not been for you. I had to call bookstores in England to get some of the other titles…Amazon is much easier. Thanks a bunch!
The Love Poems books from Penguin Classics was a Christmas Gift for my boyfriend – shot myself in the foot a bit – would have been perfect for Valentines!!!
Ooo those are lovely!
Thank you.
It’s always so inspiring visiting you amazing blog. I look forward to it every single day!
Thank you.
Maybe I am reading it wrong, but it seems they have pre-order listings for ALL of the second set of the books (including “The Woman in White”, which was the one I wanted most, and “Oliver Twist”).
Hey D*S community!
Maybe you can help me; like you all I have falling in LOVE with this collection! I bought the first 10 books, and am building my collection of the second set. Where do you come in? I am searching far and wide, for the first release of Pride & Prejudice. I bought the 2nd release not realizing there was a difference between the two. There is! The first released editions have a numerical count on the spine, meaning I have a collection of 10 books but only 1 of them is missing the count on the spine. Hopefully there are people out there like me who understand my annoyance at this! If someone out there has the 1st edition, and isn’t as fussed about this detail, I would LOVE to trade books with you! I would even be willing to give you a book from the new collection (which we have had in Canada for awhile now), to cover your expenses, and show my appreciation. If you would like to discuss this with me, please e-mail me at: lookingforpride at gmail dot com.
Thanks so much
Great design for all!
i am obsessed with hardback books these are especially gorge!
Emma is one of my absolute favorites! I may have to replace my icky paperback with one of these beauties!
Oh! These are loverly, I’m going to have to seek some of these out I think…
Love your blog, do come and visit mine some time :)
x
They are actually only $13.50. Amazing!
heather – the first edition of 10 released in the UK/Canada had numbers on the spine. They only released 8 in the US and none of them have numbers on the spine (also no madame bovary and no crime and punishment)… see link – i asked penguin – http://penguingroup.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/penguingroup.cfg/php/enduser/myq_upd.php?p_sid=*ll5SsUj&p_accessibility=&p_redirect=&p_created=1264620050&p_iid=287924&p_faqid=&&p_iid=287924&p_created=1264620050&login_btn=%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0
i think you can buy a numbered version on amazon now, but it will be more expensive than $13. i don’t want to buy crime & bovary b/c the rest of mine don’t have numbers!
Great books and beautiful objects!
my heart just skipped a beat-i’ve been waiting for these! gorgeous.
They’re lovely, aren’t they? I haven’t bought any yet, although I have seen them in the shops here in England. I love the flamingos!
so excited about this! Already have S&S and P&P versions!
They are gorgeous new covers
Oooh, this is gorgeous!! It’ll look absolutely fab in our spruced up apartment!!
Could someone help me find these? I have searched all over amazon and all I can find are first eight, which I already have. I can’t seem to find where to pre-order Alice, Odyssey, etc. Does anyone have a link or something? Thanks!
marlaina
there’s a link to each of those books’ pre-order pages in the post above ;)
grace
Grace, thank you! I don’t know why I didn’t click on those! I just went to amazon.com instead… haha Thanks so much!!
awesome! I love that they are coming out with more classic books with new covers.
I just pre-ordered Lady Chatterly’s Lover and Alice in Wonderland. I’m slowly growing my collection…one day I will have a beautiful shelf with all of the classics!
Therse are absolutley lovely! What a dream to create something like this!
those are so lovely! I can’t decide which I want more…Alice in Wonderland or Emma. I love my copy of Pride and Prejudice and now I see they’re sold out!
oooh exciting! i know my local bookstore (any bookstore, for that matter) will take pre-orders as well, so i’ll go with them and support my community.
The penguin classics are amazing!
Does anyone know when the next set will be issued, and what titles will be in it?
Hi…does anyone want to trade a numbered Crime & Punishment for a non-numbered…? I tracked one down at Chapters and when I went to pick it up low and behold it was numbered…:) You can e-mail me at allisondavies@shaw.ca Thanks!
Does anyone know if Madame Bovary and Crime and Punishment will ever be issed in the US? I finally tracked one down at a Chapters only to be told that they don’t sip to the States. Is the hunt really worth it?
I have managed to acquire 16 of the 20 through Amazon, Chapters and Waterstones. As many others, I am having a lot of trouble getting Madame Bovary and Crime & Punishment, and Ebay auctions for the two usually close at over $200. Any international d*s readers out there willing to help? :)
Kind of a silly comment, but be careful when you peel the stickers off the back of these books. I was a little hasty getting one off of Alice in Wonderland and it pulled all the paint off the flamingos. Not a huge deal, but it was totally preventable.
That happened to me too! How can you prevent the stickers peeling the prints off the back of the book? Also, Madame Bovary is on eBay for $165 with free shipping. Does anyone know where I can get a numbered version of Alice in Wonderland? :)
So many lovely book covers, but I can’t seem to find or think of a way to display them with the cover facing forward (rather than showing just the spine). Do you have any suggestions or any cool bookshelves that are designed for that?
There are six new titles!!! All on Amazon UK & US and http://www.bookdepository.co.uk

Jordan, if you’re still looking my local Borders in Sydney Australia has HEAPS of Crime and Punishment at AU$19.95. Try borders.com.au ($200+ on ebay is ridiculous!!!)
