Oh no. I had the privilege of hiring him when I worked in publication design. He was absolutely brilliant and easy to work with. Someone I often suggested to others.
My condolences to family and friends.
Does anyone know what happened? I remember the bit on his home – and I really loved how he set it up. He was a great illustrator. What a sad loss.
i didn’t know him personally. but your peek into his home was one of my very favorites due to his sense of humor and enjoyment of life that was so evident in his narrative. how very sad, and my heart goes out to his family & friends.
Anyone who’s ever visited a book store or picked up a magazine is likely familiar with Nick’s work. He was an immensely talented illustrator, and very well-liked in the publishing industry.
Very sad news indeed.
What a tragedy. His great personality shone through in everything he did.
I’ve adored Nick’s work for a long time and loved that you featured his home on your blog. I like anyone who has a beer opener on their fence!
Nick’s charm flowed from his work and he will be so greatly missed!
what happened?
Beautiful work, so sad.
I have to echo DC Sarah, Nick’s “sneak peek” was one of my favorites…EVER!
I’m very sad to hear this and my heart goes out to his loved ones. It’s so hard to imagine someone whose words and artwork were just bursting with vitality has gone on. I remember the sneak peek– he was so witty everyone was falling in love with him all over the place.
Yes, we all fell in love with Nick and with his wry way of presenting his home last year. What a sweetheart to have in one’s life! His work, which many of us discovered thanks to the sneak peek (or shall I say identitified aftet the peek), will live on. His voice will be missed. I wish I had heard it just once.
The piece he wrote about his home was so warm and lively, one of the true standouts. I feel so very sad.
i really loved his work, this is so sad.
I’m afraid Nick died of Cancer. A Talented Scotsman his talent will be missed. All the best Nick, wherever you are.
Devastating, he was still so young! I can just wish all the best to his family and friends.
I was very sad to hear that Nick died. I didn’t know him personally but have been following his work for years. Whenever I have been stuck in my own work I look to Nick’s illustrations for inspiration. I wish the best to his family and friends.
